Registering your UPSL players, coaches, and managers is a quick and easy process, if you have the required link and required player, coach, or staff info. So, let’s get started!
When in the mad rush of the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) countdown to season kickoff, all the updates you may have received from your UPSL Conference Director are likely lost to the countless emails and text messages (SMS).
When To Begin UPSL Players & Staff Registration
Ideally, as a UPSL semi-pro soccer manager or general manager competing, you should have begun registering your UPSL players an staff at least a month prior to your first regular season game. Preferably, for insurance coverage purposes, the player registration process should begin immediately after tryouts, once the core of your team is selected.
For new player registration, the registration process is instant. If UPSL players are currently rostered with another UPSL team, registration will be delayed, requiring the player transfer process to be completed prior to registration to your player. There are also restrictions for clubs (especially new clubs) registering players who previously played for other teams, which would delay the process.
Though there are many wise management reasons why you may want to hold off on registering players, the sooner the better. Since unlike the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), where player registration requires clearance through US Soccer and FIFA, which can take weeks or even months for former professional players or players who have played or were born in other countries where clearance would be required from the national federation as well as the club (or clubs) they were signed, registration for your UPSL players is relatively independent of such delays.
Who Should Register UPSL Players
Who should register your UPSL players and staff depends on numerous factors. There are prudent reasons why you may want to a club administrator register your players and staff, which is another topic for another post. But as a means of delegating the workload and saving the club administrator the headache of gathering all the necessary player information and photos, it is usually best to delegate individual player and staff registration to the individuals themselves.
The Step-By-Step Player Registration Process
Registering your UPSL players, coaches, and managers makes use of the same process. So, let’s get started.
- Go to the UPSL website: https://upsl.com/
- Currently at the top left of the web page, click on the “Online Player Registration” link (https://secure.sportsaffinity.com/Reg/Public/TeamReg/logina.aspx?domain=adult-upsl.sportsaffinity.com), which redirects you to the old Sports Affinity registration system, which is now aligned with Stack Sports/Sports Connect.
- Select the season (Spring 2021) you are registering for in the dropdown menu.
- Select the team ( 0106-01UMU-005911) you are registering for in the second dropdown menu. Once the dropdown menu is clicked and open, you can type the first letter of your team name to quickly navigate to all teams that start with that letter, saving you time in your selection.
- Enter your login, password, and click “Login.” Or, you may have to create your account, which may require you to coordinate with the UPSL Registrar Jose Lopez, whose contact is below.
- Click “Add Self to Team(s)” on the next page. A popup form will appear.
- Complete the form, which requires a photo and/or a photo of a state-issued identification (ID) card, such as a driver’s license. Team Managers, Head Coaches, and Assistant Coaches are free. For UPSL players, the cost is currently $37 per player. All UPSL players must register as a player, even if you are also registered as a Team Manager, Head Coach, Assistant Coach, or Team Captain.
- Once the form is completed, click “Save.” The popup will close, and your information will appear in the “Members Being Added Now” heading at the bottom.
- Click green “Continue” button. You will be taken to the “Accept ELA page.”
- On the “Accept ELA page,” read, check the “I Accept” box, and click the green “Agree & Continue” button at the bottom right.
- One the following page, you will see “(Your Name), ADMINFEE, Open Men ,7 V 7” in the “Product” field. For staff (coaches/managers), you will now see fee of $10. For UPSL players, you will now see a fee of $37. Select your payment method, and click “Continue.”
- Enter your credit or debit card information, where (as staff) you will be charged an additional $0.25 to your $10 registration fee. Click “Continue.”
- You are done! You may download and save your receipt as a PDF. Enjoy the season.
Having Trouble Logging In?
Note, this is the same registration system used by many recreational and competitive youth soccer and adult soccer leagues. Therefore, as a player, coach, parent, or soccer club administrator, you may already have a login, or two, or three, or four, or more. This can make the process very complicated, but it can be cleared up, as the system now allows you to merge accounts to a primary account, which can be a challenging process, but it is worth doing, as it streamlines future administration of your UPSL players and club.

UPSL Players Agreement
I agree to (1) To abide by the rules of United Premier Soccer League Inc. and its affiliated organizations and sponsors. Recognizing the possibility of physical injury associated with soccer and in consideration for United Premier Soccer League Inc. accepting the registrant for its soccer programs and activities (the Programs), I hereby release, discharge and/or otherwise indemnify and hold harmless United Premier Soccer League Inc. it officers and or directors, its affiliated organizations and sponsors, volunteers, their employees and associated personnel, including the owners of fields and facilities utilized for the Programs, against any claim or written demand by or on behalf of the registrant as a result of the registrants participation in the Programs and/or being transported to or from the same, which transportation I hereby authorize. (2) To authorize verification of my date of birth from legal records to a United Premier Soccer League Inc. authorized representative for the limited purpose of United Premier Soccer League Inc. player age verification. (3) To hereby give my consent for emergency medical care prescribed by a duly licensed Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Dentistry. This care may be given under whatever conditions are necessary to preserve the life, limb or my well-being. (4) To hereby give my consent to United Premier Soccer League Inc. to take photographs, video recordings, and/or sound recordings in documenting the activities of United Premier Soccer League Inc. programs and services. I grant United Premier Soccer League Inc. and their affiliates permission to use the negatives, prints, motion pictures, video/audio tapings, or any other reproduction of the same for United Premier Soccer League Inc. educational and promotional purposes in manuals, on flyers, the internet, or other publications. (5) I agree to be placed on United Premier Soccer League Inc. member email and mailing distribution list. If I wish to be removed, I will notify United Premier Soccer League Inc. in writing via email at registrar@upslsoccer.com. (6) All player registrations are final once completed no refunds under any circumstance. (7)I understand that the UPSL player registration fee includes payment of an insurance premium for medical health coverage, which combined with my primary medical insurance, will act as a secondary coverage for any injuries incurred from play. In the event that I do not have primary health coverage, then this policy will act within its limitations of coverage and of deductibles as my primary coverage.
